Appendix I (supplementary data)

Beekeeping practices across Europe. The national beekeeping statistics of 33 countries were obtained through research institutes and beekeeping organizations, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA, 2008) and an open access data base (APISERVICES). Queen breeding statistics of seven countries were obtained from Lodesani and Costa (2003). No data older than ten years were employed in this survey.
